A Visit From Winter

I'm realizing that the seasons don't really have all that much to do with the weather. Or perhaps it's that the seasons are all very good friends and therefore spend a fair amount of time visiting each other, bringing a little spattering of their own weather along with them with each visit. Now that I think about it, I'm quite certain that this is the case.

At the moment, it would seem that winter is visiting spring, and the two are having a nice long conversation about their travels around the world, and how much the north wind has been blowing them around lately, and whether or not the stars in the western hemisphere are shining brighter this year than they did last year.

And while they chatter away, the rain plays chess with the sun, and the birds sing happily because there's no real reason not to, and the new flowers feel just a little bewildered by the dashing droplets. All in all, I'd say it's been rather a nice visit from winter...

  1. I think this is especially true in Northern California. It's such a beautiful area that all of the seasons want to visit all year round. It's not like that as much in Colorado Springs though. They have to stick to a strict schedule, or else no one would show up at all. Spring and Autumn are around the least, and frankly that's because they are charming ladies who have a lot of sway in the scheduling office. Plus, everyone knows that their graces would be somewhat wasted on the dry, alpine environment. Autumn does do a nice job with the yellow leaves though.
